Tell me What it is!

I woke up this morning thinking that today was Friday.... Talk about hurt feelings when I realized that it was Thursday!

Wanted to tell you a little bit about the pictures

Picture 1 is the big pot of Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo that I made a few weeks ago!  YUMMY!

Picture #2 is a cupcake decorated like Cookie Monster!  It was so CUTE!  I did not eat the cupcake!  KSan said that it was delicious!  I did not want to walk around with blue teeth!

Picture #3 is one of the kids at the J-O-B.  He came by my office and was so excited because he had bought some new pants!  He was also excited because he had put the outfit together...

Enjoy your Thursday!

Love you

You Betta SANG!

I left you hanging on Friday huh?  I had good intentions to blog on Friday but then the day flew by....

Thursday was a day to be remembered.....

The Harlem Gospel Choir came to campus and performed!  This was with the MLK celebrations here at the J-O-B...  I actually got a chance to have a quick dinner with the performers and let me tell you that there is SO MUCH Talent with that group!  I was really enjoying myself at their rehearsal and was over the moon at their performance!  Their voices were ridiculous! I felt like I was at church during their performance.  They were scheduled to perform for an hour but the show lasted from 2+ hours!  I loved their opening song but can't remember what the name of it is....

I went to the movies this weekend and saw "No Strings attached" with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman!  GREAT movie!  Full of comedy!  I went with my friend AC!

Enjoy your Monday!

Friday Funday- Make Me Over!

So last week,my next door neighbor-Bridget- decided that we should go to the mall.  She said that she was bored with her makeup and knew that I was a M*A*C fanatic and asked me to go to a makeover.  I usually don't pass up an opportunity to go to the M*A*C store!  While the artist was working on her, another artist did my eyes.  I could not believe that it had been over a year since I had let someone do my makeup.  SHUT UP!  That is way to long and I am disappointed with myself.  I LOVED my M*A*C people when I was in Arkansas.  They all knew my name and would say hi to me when I walked up to the counter.  We had a relationship that was very important to me.  I haven't tried to have a relationship with the M*A*C counter here in the North!  The young lady who did my eyes was very nice.  I told her that she could do what she wanted and she did not disappoint.  Since I usually like an over the top eye- I knew she could not mess up.  She even did the rest of my face and suggested a wonderful new lipstick- Power Supply.  I only bought 2 pieces!  Way to go me

My neighbor on the other hand spent A LOT more money than me but her makeover was FANTASTIC!  While waiting for my neighbor to finish, I wandered over to the Sephora store.  I STUMBLED upon a pleasant surprise!  Sephora was selling Carol's Daughter products!  I could not believe it! The sales person told me that they had just started!  I only bought one product.... It would still be cheaper to buy online or when the products are being shown on HSN!

Enough talk about makeup and other beauty products!

I have got to go!

MLK

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Yesterday was MLK day!  I had the day off but still participated in the MLK festivities at the J-O-B.  We will be celebrating festivities until next week!

And now I will bore you with my random thoughts and recent events!

I keep seeing Valentine's Day cards, candies and other things.  I am starting to get excited!  I don't know why I have the urge to make red velvet and strawberry cupcakes!

I spent some time at the MAC store on Friday... (more about this tomorrow).  My wallet is only hurting a tiny bit.

Carol's Daughter was on HSN last week and I did not purchase one single item.  The sales were great but they were making people pay too much for shipping and handling!  No ma'am!  I want a good sale!

Someone gave my name to a Mary Kay consultant who now wants to set up a pampering session with me and 2 of my friends.  This has to be one of my enemies because everyone that I know is always told that I ONLY support MAC!

I am making progress with my Nook!  I have purchased 2 books thus far.  It is really growing on me!

Repeat

I was texting with my Kay May the other day and she said a sentence that I completely understand.
Me:  So what are you up to?
Kay May:  Oh you know... work, school, shower homework, bed.  Then do it again

I sometimes feel that life is a bunch of do overs.  Monday didn't treat you well last week?  Don't worry about it because you will get a chance to do it over this week...  Sometimes I find myself bored at the monotony of the situation.  I want to find fun ways to add some spark, zest or surprise to my day....

I get up, complain about getting up, get to work, work, go home, eat din, shower and go to bed.  Only to get up the next day and repeat the same cycle.  Sometimes the boredom really gets to you!

But then I think about the times when I am really busy with the J-O-B or other things.... The times when you can barely catch your breath because you are soo busy!

At all times be Thankful... For What you have... for who loves you...for the shelter... for the food

For His Love!!!!

Have a great weekend

Explain

Oh Happy Day!  This week is not playing around... Soon it will be Friday.  Again, I am working for the weekend people.  I wanted to explain the pictures from yesterday.....  2 of them were taken by me when I was at home for the Holiday break!

I went out Junking with my family at least 2 times while I was at home.  For those of you who may not know what junking is let me break it down for you... Junking to me means going out and looking at things that are cheap, junk items.  My family also calls it plundering and proging.  You might have to dig for the good deals and usually the places that you go junking in are probably a little sketchy.  I went junking with my brother (who for today is not my big headed, older, loving wonderful brother) and one of my Aunts, at this store up the street from my Grammy's house.  It had a nice variety of junk and we had a wonderful time.  While we were going thru the junk, I ran across a sign and could not resist the urge to take the pic.  I don't think I have ever seen someone spell out thinga-ma-jigs.  Interesting!

The second pic is from my Grammy's freezer.  The woman knows how to keep her food.  The chicken had expired in 2007 and had not been thrown away.  Don't worry though!  I threw the chicken away and no one ate any expired products.

And the last picture is of my cousin who plays basketball for her college.  I got a chance to watch her play while I was at home!  Way to go Lady L 33!  Your cousin is very proud of you!

And a pregnancy update!  My dear friend Queen B is 2-3 weeks away from delivering Baby P!  I got a chance to spend some time with her and rub on the baby bump!  Queen B and the husband just moved into their new home and are enjoying time with each other before they become first time parents!
Next up is KMM!  Keep KMM in your prayers!  She is taking a board test so that she can get certified to be a Dentist!  She has been studying hard!  Way to go boo!  She is about 2+ months from having her baby boy!

Enjoy the Hump day!

Go AWAY!

I had the best weekend ever!  Well almost... I decided to take a break.  I rested, spent some time with  my DVR and enjoyed lazy days... Or should I say just a lazy day.  I was going thru some junk mail and saw that Showtime would be having a weekend to view movie channels for FREE!  Yay!!!!  I watched some pretty nice movies!

I was really disappointed this morning when I looked out the window and saw that it had snowed.  It was just a dusting but that does not matter.  I did not know that snow was even in the forecast.  I need to be warned that snow might be falling.  I don't want to wake up and see the ground covered.  It has since melted and I am still bitter.  Snow please Go AWAY!!!

Sorry for the melt down.

I made some gumbo last week... It was my first time making the dish!  And it was YUMMY!  I made a HUGE pot and ended up freezing some that I will eat on a later day.  I accidentally messed up the recipe so that is why there was soo much!  Here is the recipe!  I am going to try a different recipe later and compare.  I would really like some chicken gumbo...

that is it for me....

Something Old and Something NEW

Yay for Thursday!  That means Friday is almost here and I can REST!

I have been having the worst headaches for almost a week... I think it is because I need to get some rest, drink some water and stay away from caffeine.  Easier said than done.  I am only drinking caffeine because I am so tired- I am tired because I am not sleeping enough- and I am not drinking enough water because I am drinking caffeine instead.  I need to get it together!  SOON!!!

I am a nerd... I love to read.  Some of my favorite authors are:  Brenda Jackson, Eric Jerome Dickey, J.K. Rowling and Stacey Hawkins-AdamsI have been an avid reader for years.  My wonderful, loving, older, big headed brother offered to get me a Kindle for Christmas/Birthday.  I told him no.  That would mean I would have to buy books again.  I love using the library because it is free and if I LOVE a book then I can buy it and keep it for my own collection.  My brother did not listen to me and bought me a Nook.   I just started really using my Nook but so far so good!  I really like it!  It is taking some getting use to but I love the fact that you can find some free books to download and read.  So if you are thinking about buying an electronic reader- then go AHEAD!!! It is a nice little gadget... Tiny Chocolates tested and approved!  If anyone out there knows of any good sights for free Nookbooks, Let me KNOW!

Enjoy your day

Happy Hump

It is finally Wednesday!  I am slowly (and I do mean slowly) getting back in the groove of things.  I was late to work on Monday because of the iPhone alarm glitch.  My supervisor was very understanding because his didn't go off the day before.  But now my body is getting used to getting up and going to work and all of the other good stuff.

I tried to spend as much time with family and friends while I was at home.  Since I hadn't seen any of them for 8+ months, I got some wonderful Quality Time with most of them.  My Grammy was battling with gout while I was at home... My Grammy is one funny lady.  She is close to 90 but still keeps people on their toes.  She suffers from dementia and does not really have a short term memory.  I am always thankful that when I walk thru the door that she calls my name and gives me a big hug.  She does not cook like she used to... but she is still my Grammy.  And I LOVE HER!  I do not call her Grammy (that is a name for her that I use for the blog and for conversations with my Tootsie).  She would slap me if I called her Grammy.

On my flight into my hometown, an old friend sat next to me.  I have known Bradley since I was YOUNG!  He just barely made the flight since he connecting flight had some sort of delay.  He sat next to me and we chatted for the whole ride.  It was so nice catching up with a friend... We went to High School together and chatted about old classmates, life, family and the future.  I can honestly say that is was a treat to sit next to him!

I will tell you about new products tomorrow.  I have had a few people say that they would like to see some more crockpot recipes.  I am working on that.  Give me a little time to find some new creations!

Going and Going

I went home for Christmas... That is not a secret!  I did a pretty good job of keeping my family on their toes as they guessed what day I would be arriving.  The only people who knew the exact date of my return was the airlines, the lady who does my hair and my ride home from the airport!  I SUCCESSFULLY snuck into town and surprised a few of my family members!  I spent 16 glorious days in south- rubbing on Queen B's belly, harassing my family, getting on my family nerves, going to Wal-mart, drinking cafe with my Mimi and much more.    I really think that this was the best Christmas break that I have had in a long time....  I enjoyed seeing all of my family and friends, the weather was GORGEOUS and the food was fattening...  No clue when I will be back home!

Since I started traveling in November for a conference and then was in Phoenix for Thanksgiving, I named my trips the Airplane tour.  I have been in 10 airports in 1 1/2 months...  DFW airport has been my favorite for a long time.  I have run in that airport on more than one occasion. IF I had to have a FAVORITE airport based on food it would be Memphis~!  I love Memphis' food because of Jim Neely's BBQ...
If I had to rate my favorite airport based on overall Best experience, it would have to be Minneapolis.  That was my first time in Minneapolis' airport and it impressed me!  It was like being at a mall.

When I flew down home, the airline upgraded one of my flights!  I got bumped up to first class....  The elitism of first class is remarkable.  They took my coat, asked me if I wanted a pre-flight drink and allowed me to choose what I wanted for breakfast!  I should mention that they served breakfast on real china...  Thank you Delta Airlines.  I enjoyed the nice treatment but since everyone did not have an opportunity to eat breakfast and get a pre-flight drink... I started feeling bad.  I really like Southwest Airlines.  Everyone is treated the SAME!  Just my thoughts!  If you can't treat everyone the same, why have the opportunities for others to see other passengers getting better treatment.  Anywho!

I have not had time to rest since the beginning of December!  I did not get any rest while I was at home for the break and am really waiting on Friday to get here so that I can rest ALL WEEKEND!

More about my visit home tomorrow....
Love you!

I'm BACK

Well Happy New Year!!!!  I took a small break but now I am BACK!  Where to begin....  I have so many things that I want to blog about!!!!  I have 2 weeks to catch you up on the craziness of life.  I will be blogging regularly this week so make sure to check me out.  Tons of funny stories!  But first I guess I will start with a few New Year GOALS (not resolutions).....

1)  To blog more.   I never blog on the weekends (doubt that I will start) but I do promise to blog more.  I am going TRY to blog 3-4 times a week.

2) Get it together in the weight department!  It is not a secret that I would like to drop a few pounds.  I have found a friend who is going to join Weight Watchers with me.  Wish us luck.  I will be talking about this quite a bit on the blog!  It is hard being a foodie and losing weight... Hoping to find a happy place!

3) Getting closer to God.  This is something that is always on my mind.  I tend to want what I want when I want it!  I like for my life to be smooth with no problems.  I have to realize that God is in control and that He has a plan for me.  I am trying to get on this renewed hope kick...

4) I talk to most of my family pretty regularly!  But this year I promise to contact those that aren't on my TO CALL LIST!

5) To become more tech savvy!  To start skyping, netflixing and all of the other great things!!!!  Possibly updating facebook once a week, joining tweeter and other things!

That is it for me!  I will be back tomorrow with details on my trip home and other fun things!

Happy New Year!
