One HUNDRED

Let's celebrate!  This is my 100th blog!  I can't believe it!!!!  Thank you for sticking with me.  I know that I don't blog enough, that my topics aren't the best and my grammar is not up to par but HEY!  I am trying!  So you might be wondering what is going on in my world?

I had lunch with a FABULOUS student the other day.  A bright, intelligent, beautiful young lady who is a new cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Her first day was yesterday!  She starts "basic training" tomorrow and will have limited access to telephones (and no communication by email, FB for 6 weeks).  So I promised that I would send her some letters!  I love receiving snail mail... especially when the only thing everyone usually gets is just a bill.  Such a wonderful feeling opening the mail box and realizing that someone has taken the time to write you a quick note!  My student was talking about how nervous she was to be starting a new journey and not knowing what she would be doing once graduation occurs in 4 years.  I assured her that she has nothing to worry about.  She will succeed.  I would bet my MAC collection on her (and let me tell you that my MAC collection is a little pricey!).  I kind of remember what it's like to be right on the verge of starting a new chapter in your life and not knowing what is going to happen.  Very proud of this young lady!

My Big Headed loving older brother (who I have not mentioned on here in a while) had a birthday on Sunday!  I love him so and hope that he had a wonderful day.  I haven't seen him since December and I promised him that the next time I see him that I would cook for him!

Tootsie, congratulations on your 2nd Wedding anniversary!  Your marriage has lasted longer than some Hollywood marriages!  haha

That is it from me today... But I will be back tomorrow with much more!

All the Single Ladies

A few weeks ago I was catching up with a friend and I asked her if she had a Boo (boyfriend, honey, love interest).  She quickly told me that it hadn't worked out with the last guy and that she was (yet again) alone.  This friend (we will call her Lisa)  is a great catch.  She is educated, GORGEOUS, a God fearing woman and a COMPLETE Catch!  Yet she is in the ugly category of being a SINGLE Lady because most of her friends are married and making babies.  How well do I understand and sympathise!  The majority of my friends are married, engaged, shacked up and have kids... It is an ugly place to be in life when everyone is moving along and you are not!

I told Lisa that I would pray for her.  She is moving along in her career and is probably feeling like she is missing that one thing: a mate!  I know a lot of FABULOUS single ladies who are wondering when their Prince Charming will show up.  I would love to tell you soon but that may not be the case.  Once upon a time I wondered the same thing (still do some days) and then I think- Why worry!?  I had been searching deep for answers and then got tired of searching and tried HIM.  Oh HIM...  God.  Such a wonderful person to trust.  I have never ever been a patient person and like for things to go on my timeline.  This is not the case when you ask for God to take control of your life.  I still pray for HIM to send me the perfect man that He has for me.. but until that day comes, I will spend time with HIM.

So, All you Single Ladies, that are reading my blog... Know that I am praying for you.  Dale, Lil Bit, Lisa and more!  Praying that you will receive your Blessing!  I love you!

Sneaking Around

Happy Monday!

Sort of I guess.... I am not a fan of Monday's but this one wasn't too bad.  I am suffering from allergy problems.  I went walking/hiking the other night and I have not been able to get my allergies under control since.  If my meds don't start doing their job soon then I will be forced to go to the allergy/sinus doctor.  Not looking forward to that.

I had fun this weekend...  I went to the farmer's market on Saturday and looked at tons of fresh veggies.  I really want some okra but it is not the time to buy that yet.  While at the farmer's market, I bought a crepe and had the chance to catch up with a former student employee.  She reminded me that sometimes you have to endure the wrong, ugly, bitter world.  As much as I want for things to go my way, I know that God throws curve balls at me to see what I will do.  I will TRUST HIM.. Love HIM and not IGNORE him.

Next, I went to my friend Tiff's daughter bday party.  Kams (that is what I call her) was turning six and was thrilled to be having her bday party at one of the local Chuck E Cheese type places.  Her older brother was turning 13 and was also there with a few of his friends!  I had a great time slicing and serving bday cake, taking pics and holding Tiff's baby girl!

Sunday was a busy day... went to Church, shopping at Costco and Walmart.  My favorite student worker graduated in May and she came on over.  I wanted to make her dinner and catch up on life.

what did YOU do this weekend????   I managed to stay out of the mall but found out on a great deal online and did just a little shopping.  All items were needed so that is how I justified the purchase.

Words and no worries

3 pictures this week... All randomly selected from iNdee the iPhone.  I really wish Apple would release iPhone 5 so I could get an upgrade.  I don't want to purchase 4 when 5 should be here by now.  I hope the rumors are true and September is the Month.  Again, patience is not my friend!

Picture numero uno is some perfume!  I am not a shopper.  These days, I purposely stay out of the mall because I am afraid that I would become addicted and engage in a bad case of retail therapy.  I had to return an item and was walking through Macy's when I stopped to smell Beyonce's Heat Rush scent.  I had tried to purchase it once before at Dillards but the sale's lady was RUDE to me and I left without making the purchase.  The sales lady at Macy's was very nice.  I told her that I was not there to purchase, just to smell and of course she wanted to let me know about the deal that they had going on.  You received a full size bottle of perfume, and 3 free gifts.  I told her the deal breaker for me was that I wanted a sample size of the Heat Rush.  She asked her Manager if that was okay and I got my deal... for cheap!  I love good customer service and free gifts!

Picture number 2 is of cat window... I blogged about cat window last year and it still continues now.  The cat usually greets me every morning when I arrive for work.

Picture number 3 is of a fortune cookie that I received when I was with KMM...

I can't believe that I have blogged 3 times this week!  Yay for me!  Have a great Thursday

Catch me if you Can

Hope that you enjoyed the pictures of the food....  I guess that I should explain (all pictures were taken at Loveless Cafe from my iPhone).

KMM knows about my foodiness (not really a word but I will use it today) and asked me if there were any restaurants that I wanted to try in TN.  I couldn't think of any and after googling to see if any Top Chef contestants had a restaurant (the answer is NO- although there is speculation that the next round of contestants does have one from Nashville).  I told her she could pick all of the places.  There are 2 places that stick out in my mind so let's start with Loveless Cafe.  Heaven help you!  If you get a chance to go please stop and try their DELICIOUS biscuits~!  They were wonderful and the preserves (jelly) that served with them are all home made and sooo yummy!  I had fried catfish, fried green tomatoes and fried okra (obviously I wanted to have a heart attack that day)!  Everything was great!  KMM had fish, greens and mac-n-cheese.  The greens weren't the best...neither was the mac-n-cheese.

The next place would be Monells.  Again, this place was wonderful.  KMM had mentioned Monells before and said that I would love it but I blew her off.  The restaurant was family style and was ridiculous.  They served : fried fish, ribs, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, rolls and cornbread, green beans, greens, white beans, cucumber salad, banana pudding and more.  The place is worth your time and money!  All you can eat for around $16.  Worth every penny!

I am surprised that I didn't come back as big as a house but I made it!  So there you go... 2 great southern style restaurants for you to try in Nashville!
