Better Late Than Never

No need to apologize for my disappearance....  You will get use to it one of these days.  So Let me jump in get right to the point.

My life is full of ironic situations.  My Granny (my dad's mom) had not been in the best of health.  I saw her when I made my trip back home in April and it was different.  My Granny didn't talk to me AT ALL.  She looked at me and smiled and I tucked a blanket around her when she was sitting in the recliner.  I cried.  I mean, I really cried.  Boo hooed.  I sat there and talked to her and wiped tears.  I enjoyed seeing her but she wasn't the same Granny to me.  When I visited Home in July, I stopped by to see her.  She had a big appetite that day.  She didn't talk but she allowed me to help her take a sit at the table and eat.  Those are the last 2 times that I saw my Granny alive.

This year, on my Mom's B-day, My Granny was called to be with the Lord.  Life is a funny thing.  I have nothing but good memories of my Granny.  The fact that I am the first person that she stitched a name onto a quilt for, squeezing fresh orange juice because I don't drink Sunny D and just being such a lovely woman.  When my Mom passed, my Granny comforted me by saying that "God Loved her More".  Those were the best words that someone could have said to me at that time.  I think my Granny was pretty amazing, she gave birth to the Greatest Man in my world (My Pappy).

I traveled home for the services and that can only mean one thing - Airplane tour 2011!  More on that soon

Balloons for Kay May

Last year at this time, I was cleaning my house getting ready for Kay May to come visit me.  Kay May has been my only house guess to date while I have been living up north.  And if you read my blog last year you know that she dragged me out of the bed early in the AM to go see the hot air balloons.  Since she isn't here visiting me this year (I am bummed about that) I took a few pictures of the HAB so that she could have good memories!  KAY MAY~  Come visit me.  I could use a little piece of home!

Walked out of my apartment and see one balloon.

Driving to work and see more balloons.

Walking into work under balloons.

And a SKY full of Balloons for Kay May!

The balloons started my day off right!  I can't get this big smile to leave my face!  I hope that you have a great holiday weekend!

Back with the Program

School has officially started and we are currently at the end of week 2!  And I will go ahead and put it out there that it has been a successful 2 weeks.  I am looking very chocolatey right now.  ALL and I do mean ALL of my Welcome Week programs were outside so I am looking like a Hershey's girl right now!  Oh Well!  My color will fade soon.
My bulletin board at work has been proudly displaying my programs (mainly because we have a design team that creates award winning images!).  But now that all of my big programs are done, I can sit back and catch you up on life!

A few weeks ago, KSan and I went to the Soul Food Festival.  If you keep up with the blog, you will remember that last year we went and enjoyed some tasty soul food.  I licked my fingers this year over some fried fish!

It was sooo Good!  I also ordered some fries and fried okra.  Basically what I am telling you is that I had a fat girl heart attack day!  But it was worth it!  KSan ordered some WONDERFUL black eyed peas and cornbread

And some spicy fried chicken!  The peas have me wanting to fix a meal similar to my Grammy's...When I have some time, I will get in the kitchen on a Sunday and take it back to feeling like you are at HOME!

I was kind of disappointed with desserts.  KSan ordered some peach cobbler and I ordered sweet potato pie.  They were not my faves.  For my own record (and KSan) we ordered the food from B&B and the desserts from (?)  Also, people please do not expect to come to a festival at 5PM and think that the vendors will still have food.  It says SoulFood festival which means that it is being done by people of color and we tend to run out of food, start late and talk loud!  That might be stereotypical but please know that everything that I stated was true!

That is it for me!  I am so glad that I got to write a few little notes on what has been going on!  I also want to say thank you to everyone who helped with my Break Through!  Starting to feeling like the old me.

Love you!
